چکیده
In the present work, contemporary exhaust gas treatment systems (EGTS) used for SOx, PM, and NOx emission mitigation from shipping are reviewed. Specifically, after-treatment technologies such as wet scrubbers with seawater freshwater solution NaOH, hybrid scrubbers, integrated in recirculation (EGR) installations, dry inert selective catalytic reduction (SCR) analyzed. The operational principles construction specifications, performance characteristics investment operation of reviewed EGTS thoroughly elaborated. SCR technology is comparatively evaluated alternative techniques LNG, internal engine modifications (IEM), direct water injection (DWI) humid air motor (HAM) to assess individual potential each technology. Detailed real data time several cargo vessels spent shipyards scrubber installation, actual purchase cost installation demonstrated. From examination constructional, operational, environmental economic parameters examined EGTS, it can be concluded that most effective SOx abatement system closed-loop NaOH which practically eliminate ship emissions, whereas cannot only offer compliance a vessel IMO Tier III limits but also emissions.

Real time ship exhaust gas monitoring for compliance to SOx and NOx regulation and CO2 footprint
IMO MARPOL Annex VI regulation has been set for global application to reduce the negative consequences of ship gas emissions SOx, NOx, and CO2. To enforce the regulation, real time gas emission monitoring system is in need. The system in this paper consists of a microcontroller, gas analyzers, sensors and Xbee radio module. The data acquired from the sensors and gas analyzer is transmitted usin...
متن کاملDevelopment of a NOx gas sensor for exhaust
A high-sensitive sensor for NOx detection based on selective electrochemical reduction of NO2 is proposed. Electrochemical cell consisting of three metallic electrodes and YSZ electrolyte operates under electric polarization and allows selective NO2 detection in exhaust gases at 400-550°C. Electrical polarization applied between working and counter electrodes accelerates partial electrochemical...
متن کاملParticulate Matter and NOx Exhaust Aftertreatment Systems
Fleet fuel consumption is greatly reduced through the introduction of the HSDI Diesel engine. The reduced fuel consumption is then reflected in a reduction of CO2 emissions. The drop in fuel consumption and CO2 emissions results in a rise in market acceptance, which is also the result of desirable driving performance and greatly improved NVH behavior. The continuously increasing demands on plac...
متن کاملDecreasing NOx of a Low-Speed Two-Stroke Marine Diesel Engine by Using In-Cylinder Emission Control Measures
The authors applied one-dimensional (1-D) simulation and 3-D Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulation to evaluate the potential of in-cylinder control methods on a low-speed 2-stroke marine engine to reach the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Tier 3 NOx emissions standards. Reducing the combustion temperature is an important in-cylinder measure to decrease NOx emissions of marine ...
